08-07-09 The last few words on the subject

Yesterday I stated that the ceremony at Staples Center (where the public could say goodbye to Michael Jackson) would be the new dictionary definition of 'going out with a bang'. So: has my prediction become reality?

I think so. In a way. Let's be fair, not everyone's funeral will be broadcast worldwide for all the world to see. I thought it was very serene, graceful and majestic at the same time. Serene because of the musical tribute by his colleagues and relatives, graceful through the words that were spoken by Brook Shields and majestic well.......because it was pretty darndiddly big and it was there for all the world to see.

My favorite part of the evening was when reverend Al Sharpton took the stage and argued that Mike broke down barriers of race, culture and much more. I thought it was a well delivered speech and I agree with him that we should thank Mike for the things that he brought us. For the music, for breaking down barriers, for his influence, for.............*

To quote reverend Sharpton: '(...) thank you Michael! Thank you Michael! Thank you Michael!'
